Frequently Asked Questions
Where are you located?
We are located in Salem, Massachusetts.
Are your candles hand-made?
Yes! Our candles are hand-poured in small batches. We also do our own creative/website design and candle labelling! Learn more about us.
What materials are used in your candles?
We are committed to making the highest quality possible, non-toxic, clean-burning candles. Our candles are made of 100% soy wax, not blends. We use premium cotton wicks specifically selected for their wax compatibility. Our candles are all dye-free.
How can I safely store and burn my new candle?
Make sure to store your new candle inside, in a room that stays between 50-85°F, away from direct sunlight. If your candle accidentally got too cold (for example, you left it in the car overnight in winter) make sure to leave it at room temperature for 2 hours prior to lighting it.
Tips for a happy and safe burn:
- Trim your candle wick before lighting. Mushrooming or curling of the wick is normal, but for best burn quality, the wick should be trimmed to 1/4 inch height.
- Place your candle on a heat-resistant surface and ensure there's a clear space around it.
- Always keep the candle within your sight while it's burning, and make sure it's kept away from flammable objects, children, and pets.
See this page for additional tips if you've bought one of our massage candles.
Why don't I see candles with fun additions like dried flowers and fruit, crystals, or wax "ice"?
We don't make these type of candles for two reasons:
- We make candles that we want you to burn - some of these "fancy" candles can seem too nice to burn!
- These fun additives can compromise the safety and/or quality of the candle. For example, dried flowers could potentially light on fire if the candle isn't crafted exactly right. The trendy candles that you see that look like a coffee/tea with "ice" in them utilize gel wax, which is petroleum-based. We don't use this for the same reason we don't use paraffin wax; in our opinion, a cool-looking candle isn't worth the negative environmental and health impacts of burning these materials.
Why does my new candle have small bumps on the top, or show some "frosting"? Why isn't it pure white?
Our candles are hand-poured and made from 100% soy wax. Small imperfections are totally normal and expected with soy wax! The candles that you see that look picture-perfect are usually made from wax blends that contain paraffin a petroleum-based material, which we do not use.
